Film Evening - Hacksaw Ridge

You, your family and friends are invited to this Film Evening. Friday 7 July at 7pm at Trinity-at-Waiake.
‘Hacksaw Ridge’ is an extraordinary true story of Desmond Doss a conscientious objector during WWII.
However, he joins the US armed forces and serves as a soldier. He went on to become the only American
soldier during the war to fight on the front lines without a weapon as he believed that while war was justified
killing was nevertheless wrong.
As an army-medic he single-handedly evacuated the wounded from behind enemy lines in Okinawa, braved fire while attending to soldiers and was wounded himself by a grenade and then hit by snipers.
Desmond Doss became the only conscientious objector who was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.
This is a graphic film well directed by Academy Award winner, Mel Gibson.
